Just wondering. It's the only things that wakes me up in the morning but lately I've been feeling funny, my heart races a bit more than usual if I'm a bit stressed, worried or excited. Can these be linked?

I'm asking as I'm interested in living a more healthy lifestyle... I guess I should stop drinking coffee, hey? Although I only have 1 cup a day.

I think it is related, caffiene is a stimulant which will increase your heart rate as does stress.

I stopped drinking coffee about 4 years ago, not due to heart racing but due to getting really bad head aches.

Try drinking herbal tea in the morning instead..... they are good for digestion too.
They don't taste too bad.... is all a case of trial and error.

Coffee isn't very bad for your heart, but it's certainly NOY good for your liver. Caffine makes the heart beat faster, that's why you feel more awake. But you should be drinking a glass of warm, not cold, not boiling, water every morning, and then wait around 25 mins until you have a low sugar breakfast, such as prorige oats or a fruit smoothie...
Good luck with a heathy lifestyle...

1 cup a day wont hurt you and would not be linked to feelings of stress which is a normal emotion. I have 1 apon waking and 1 before 4pm if at work to keep the concentration level up

It's not the coffee itself that is making your heart race, it is the caffeine. Caffeine raises your blood pressure, among other things, and is very unhealthy. It's addictive, which is why it "wakes you up in the morning", and if you stop all intake, you WILL go through withdrawal. It not only affects blood pressure, but can further osteoporosis (bone loss), and you can even overdose and die. (Not to scare you!)

Like I said, it's not the coffee, it's the caffeine.

Caffine is a stimulant.....it is like a weak form of speed.

In large doses it can cause cardiac arrythmia.

It is one of those things people "need" because they drink it.....I don't drink caffine, therefore I don't need it to wake up, I like orange juice.

It can speed things up, but in moderation it is not bad. If you are excited or anxious the caffeine can make it worse.
