The Moon is Earth's only natural satellite. It has no formal English name other than "the Moon", although it is occasionally called Luna (Latin: moon) to distinguish it from the generic term "moon" (referring to any of the various natural satellites of other planets). Its symbol is a crescent (☽). The related adjective for the Moon is lunar (from the Latin root), but this is not found in combination, combining forms such as seleno-, -selene (from the Greek deity Selene), and occasionally -cynthion being preferred.

The moon is actually a moon. We call it 'the' moon because we have so little respect of all the other moons. Not just the baby moons, there are some titans. Moons go round planets. Planets go around suns.

No the moon is a satellite of earth. It is far too small to be scientifically classified as a planet. Take a look at pluto and the pluto conspiracy (google it) if you need proof. However, dont believe people who say its because it doesnt revolve around the sun. Comets and Asteroids orbit the sun and are not planets. When it comes to planets, Size is what really matters

Basically the moon is a satellite that revolves around the Earth. If it were a planet it would revolve around the sun. Our moons real name is Luna. There are many other moons revolving around many other planets in our solar system and other solar systems.

It is technically not a planet but a satellite. The Earth's satellite is just called the 'moon' but other planets have satellites with cute names such as Callisto for one of Jupiters moons.
