As per Constitution of India, he is eligible to be a PM, but practically at present he is in not the right situation for occupying that slot. There are many reasons.
First, he is a novice in politics and his experience of dealing with people, facing various political & social situations keeping in mind the interest of the country, is not sufficient to lead the country.
Secondly, other seniors in the party will definitely oppose this in order to fulfil their ambitions.
His own mother - Ms. Sonia Gandhi - feels that he must spend some more time in active politics before he is thought of even for being a Minister.
It is better for Rahul to take firm, steady and consistent steps in the ladder and his family background, support from ruling party will assist him.
But as of now, for Rahul, DILLI ABHI DUR HAI...

by the way, who is Rahul Gandhi?
can't we get above dynastic rule?
what has Rahul Gandhi done for the country except for carrying his mother's ambitions on his very weak shoulders.
why can't you or i think of becoming the PM of India? At least we think about the country.
We need young but dynamic people to take the country ahead. Probably Priyanka would have been a better choice out of the two but then we are more than a hundred million people...it's time we started looking beyond 'the family '.

well, in my opinion at the present time rahul is not fit for the post of prime minister. he is a quite new face in politics and does not have much experience about the tactics of it. he still needs to understand the problems of people. maybe in future he can be a good prime minister but now he is not a fit candidate

This is a democratic nation.so anyone can be the PM or PRESIDENT, based on his vision to be on it. Rahul can take the position, but he should have the vision to lead the nation.....
