Use the XP CD to delete your XP or any partition first. Make sure that you really do not want anything in these partition first before you delete them. You cannot reverse it. FDISK will not delete NTFS partitions. You can then reboot and use your WIN98 to install by typing setup, etc., after you have created new partitions using FDISK.

If you do not mind losing all the information on the drive, you will need to partition the hard-drive again. You can use a commercial program like "Partition Magic" which will give you a graphical representation or "Fdisk" which you will find on your DOS boot-up disk. Once you delete the old partition NTFS you will then be able to create the FAT32 partition - and then format it for windows 98 to work.

Copy all data from pc, get latest drivers.

Then try and format the whole pc from safe mode command prompt... ie turn on pc press f8 pic that option.

Or set the bios to be able to boot from CD first choice. Put in win xp disk, reset, hopefully will boot from CD.

Then tell it to format the whole computer to ntfs when asked not fat 32.

Ideally make two partitions one for your data one for programms so if go bad you dont loose your files

Maybe pc to old

Do low level format. Command, fdisk.
It will be FAT 32. Then proceed as if you are installing '98.

And use Win.ME. It is much better for installing USB devices.
