ok a while back i asked if there was any case law on the pacing method used by cops and people replied with case law about radars and such but is there any case law on pacing???? thanks a million..... ohh is there a standard procedure as to calibration of the speedometers of police cars? and if the patrol unit is new does it still have to be calibrated?

There is case law on pacing. But it is quite old and varies state to state. Some courts accepted a pace distance of as little as a city block, others wanted at least a half mile. This method is almost completely outdated and obsolete. The radar gun is used by everyone.
Some states do have a standard procedure to calibrate police car speedometers but most simply rely on their own radar gun to to that.
A new police car normally has the speedometer calibrated at the factory.
