Absolutely. We wouldn't want low-paid Scottish workers flooding across the border to take good English jobs. The English should also establish a Border Patrol, like they have in the US, to prevent illegal immigration from less-desirable regions. This strategy will only work, however, with strictly-enforced laws that prevent those Scottish wetbacks from working in England without a Green Card.

The break up is actually healthy. In a peaceful world the better distribution of authority is achieved this way. Consider how retarded the over centralized governments are. In a given population the size of Scotland can it be argued that there is not sufficient talented people capable of running their own affairs? Can it be argued that the administration done remotely is better? Doesn't this provide the best form of democracy?

But also consider social fairness, if Scotland is getting some tangible advantage that must be paid for then the English must be paying for it. Likewise if the English are getting some advantage then Scotland must be paying for it. The wall should be rebuilt only to keep the barbarians out of England.

I seriously doubt if there are sufficient engineers or craftsmen in England to carry out such a major project.

It would run seriously over budget anyway, and the architect would die before the project was completed..

I believe that there may be a large number of unemployed people with appropriate experience living in Germany, especially in the east of that country who may be willing to construct a wall but it is unlikely to have the beauty and gravitas of the old Italian built wall.

As an afterthought, the English cannot even build a motorway up to the border, so I assume they would not be able to complete a wall either!

No The Scottish should!
If they wish to leave the UK it's down to them. The English will not pay expenses incurred by the Scots.

In fact - we may do the opposite to rebuilding Hadrians Wall.

We may dig instead. Yes, Good Idea!

We'll dig enough so that the sea will rush in and make them an Island Nation!

Hoots Mon! It's a Bonny Thought I Ken!!

It was the Romans who built Hadrian's wall. 'England' at that time was under the rule of a foreign power and the 'English' were mere slaves; puppets if you will, to their sneering overlords. Oh how they scuffled at the feet of their masters, an entire nation defeated and shamed!

So they had to build a wall to keep the wild folk at bay. The ones who hadn't kowtowed to the Roman invaders. If we leave the Union, then the wall will be rebuilt ten-fold to keep the jealous English OUT.
With a wee door that we can chuck Alex Salmond and Walter Smith out from...
LOL!!

Stupid question but may as well answer it, if the Border was redrawn along the lines of Hadrian's wall then a large portion of England would come under Scotiish rule.

yes, 18 foot thick reinforced concrete, 60 foot high, with machinegun nests facing north every 25 foot along the entire length... put a few minefields out there too... and maybe a couple of forward recon posts... and keep the entire length patrolled by the nastiest, most psychotic soldiers we can find.... and a lot of guard dogs- dobermanns, rottweilers, bloodhounds etc... they could patrol the minefields *lol*

only kidding, are you a f*ck*ng moron?????? why the hell would you want to rebuild hadrians wall?!?! if scotland leaves the union - so f*ck*ing what? it doesn't mean the scots are going to start night time raids onto brittish land to rape and pillage - or does it??

questions comments to my email please :P

Hadrian's Wall is actually well inside England, so re-building it would be discrimination against a minority.

In many ways.

The main instigator of the Union was James the first of Scotland.

The English were still living in Germany when Hadrian's Wall was built. There were far more Africans than English in Britain at that time.

Perhaps Britain should be given back to the Celts, Romans and Africans?

Too little too late I'm afraid.

A double fence with a no-man's land between, microphones buried in the soil, British bull-terrier patrols, watch-towers, searchilights, armed-guards and a 50,000,000 volt power supply are the absolute minimum requirement.

Then cut off the benefits and let them eat oat-cake!
