Your PC is probably using the TCP/IP protocol to initiate communications. Most attendees at cocktail parties aren't compatible with the TCP/IP protocol. Try installing TIP/SY (aka tipsy) for initial communications and also have Pi/55d installed for when the party really gets started.

Spend some quality time with it and make sure it is sharing. The more it shares the more (network) friendly it will be.
Just remember the more open your little buddy is the easier it will be to be hurt.

Maybe its adverse to getting too close for fear of catching a virus... your PC might have OCD... does it constantly feel the need to virus scan and defrag?
Try working with it, get to accessorise... maybe a larger network hub will have more people inserting into its ports!
