i am pregnant with my third child i am currently in a 2 bedroom house which the rooms are very small, i can only fit a bunk bed and a chest of draws in the kids bedroom i had to put my 1 and a half year old son on the bottom bunk and his 4 years old brother on the top bunk but my youngest keeps climbing on the top bunk at night and has already fallen once which i had to take him to hospital as he had a nasty bump on his head, dont know where the baby will sleep i can fit the cot in my room but he/she cannot stay in my room forever do you think my doctor or health visitor would write a letter to my council asking for me to be rehoused?

You probably won't even need a doctor's letter. Your council or housing associated will probably consider that you have enough points to allow you to move to a bigger property. Having three kids and two bedrooms (and I'm guessing Dad lives with you too) means you will have 5 people in a two bedroom house - they wouldn't want you to be in unsuitable accomodation because it will count against them when they have to fill in their yearly reports to the government.

First of all, I'm very sorry for these nasty comments you have gotten from some of these people~the reason I looked at your question is that my daughter is in a similar situation and I wanted to see more. I'm gathering that you aren't in the U.S..as I'm not familiar with the "council"..I'm assuming it is like Family Services that helps low income, people in need? The one suggestion I have though is, PLEASE go to a thrift store, second hand store, charitable organization, etc..and get different beds for your little ones! That is so scary about the fall, and it could be fatal to a little one. Get 2 small beds instead, or even just 1 full sized and let them sleep together~please don't risk another fall. Get a bassinette and let the baby sleep in your bedroom, you don't want the other 2 to get it out of it's crib and drop it. At least try these suggestions until you can get a larger place:) Best of Luck with your family & new baby!

if conditions are as cramped as they sound, the council has an obligation to rehouse you

you don't need a note off the doctor, just go to your local housing office and ask what the procedure is in your area

and take the bunkbed apart, put the two seperate pieces side by side, you don't want to risk your kid falling and breaking his neck

Take some responsibility for your own life. Contact the council yourself, and keep notes of what was said and when. You make no mention of a partner/husband - is there one?

If not, why not?

If yes, then he should be helping with this situation!

I used to work for a GP and He did sometimes do this kind of thing. If your GP is nice and has time He / She may do it but be aware they can charge around £15 for the service ! All the best to you x

If i were you i would speak to the council myself and tell them the situation. Chances are they will re-house you in a larger place without any problems.
