Learn a language actually is very simple. You only need to go through 4 steps.
1) Read
2) Write
3) Speak
4) Head.
People are always doubt that they are not good in language. But actually we are learning the language everyday through this 4 steps. In order to improve your English, do this 4 steps repeatedly from time to time and make it as a habit.
May be you will think that it is tough. Lets take your alternative ways of learning English by reading your favorite English book, watching your favorite English movie, hearing your favorite English songs and so on. From here, you will automatic find out the unknown English vocabulary and start to learn new English words.
Thanks.

Read a lot of different things from labels to books and after reading talk to somebody about what you've just read or teach somebody what you've just learnt. Turn on the CC in your TV , get the lyrics of songs you like and listen to it while reading then you can sing along to work your pronunciation. Purchase a grammar workbook or consult it online. Pick 3 words/day in the dictionary that you don't know and use it that day. Tell friends it's ok to correct you if you make a grammar error.
Good Luck

Read a lot of books. Reading is the best way to improve english knowledge. Pick out words that you are not familiar with and start looking them up on a dictionary. Will help you with the meanings and stuff. You can also apply such words into your daily speech with others.

Speak English? Watch English-language television and movies.
Read and write English? Read books and newspapers in English and practice writing in a daily journal or with a pen pal who is a native speaker of English.
Realize that English is associated, historically, with other languages like German and French. Read about the history of the English language:

Read a lot. Read books and magazines, even comics, written in English. Try reading aloud to get the right pronunciation. Encourage family members and friends to speak in English. Have a diary. Write your day-to-day activities in the English language.
lt can be awkward at the start but you'll do fine as you keep practising it. Good luck.

3 things are only to be done
1) Knowledge - Read up on grammar books, and various ways of communication related books, it helps a lot
2)Movies and Soaps - Don't you get bored by reading, where is the fun? Damn watch a soap, see how they talk and interact and try watching movies. This is great since your Girlfriend can join you too.
3)Implementing what you learn - You read all you wanted and watched everything, its useless unless you use it yourself, try Mirror talking and giving Presentation on various topics to yourself
Rate yourself everyday and you will see yourself improving.
