'There is probably not a whole lot you can do about it.. he is the boss and he would never admit he took the money, maybe you need to empty the tip jar more often that you do. that way you will be getting your money like you should. are you the only one that gets tips.?? If so, start to get your tips several times a shift, and that way you will get your tips like you should be getting them.. good luck..

You could set up a friend to confront him instead. Like, have your friend go in and leave a tip, then turn around and come back and say, "Wait, that tip was for the other guy" or "aren't you the owner" or something like that.

I'd change jobs, though, not much you can do against a dishonest guy.

However, if you decide you really want to screw him.... In the US, the IRS will pay you a percent if you tip them off that someone is cheating on his/her taxes. The percent varies from 1-15% of what the person owes the IRS. Someone who steals tips from the kid in the kitchen is definitely cheating the IRS. Restaurants often cheat the IRS anyway -- easy to do with a cash business. So, what you do is really, really keep track of sales, as much as you can. How many people come in during a day, a week, a month? How much do they pay? How much is in the cash drawer (he's probably lifting from it every day before he makes the bank deposit). Write down lots and lots of notes. Then report him, and give the IRS all your info. The better your info, the higher a percent you get. They'll bust him, but they won't tell him what triggered the audit. You get to be anonymous and keep your job until you want to quit. I think you might really enjoy this, actually, and if it pays off, you'll make a lot more than you would from tips!

You need to confront him. Say something like "Hey boss, I noticed you collected my tip for me. I'll pick it from you at the end of my shift. Thank you." I don't know what kind of boss you have, but if he fires you, I'm sure you won't have difficulty finding another job seeing as you live in Miami. Lots of job opportunities in good restaurants. Good luck!

You are what we call in the U.S. between a rock and a hard place. You are pretty much screwed. I hope your circumstances change in the near future and you are able to change jobs. Any possibility you can steal your tips back or get to them before he does. Maybe you can accidentally trip him.

It genuinely looks straightforward to me for the bussers to get information besides to the servers. although, i'm no longer particular about the floor manager. you should have indexed her responsibilities and that ought to help you get a better answer.

Since he's the owner, you probably have no choice except to let it continue to happen or get a different job in a different restaurant.

Wow, I'm surprised at how many people say you can do little or nothing about this. I would call your local "Better Business Bureau" for a course of action. Stealing is stealing.
