I'm filipino with the possibility of having a spanish ancestor (from Spain, not Mexico), and I was wondering if I will grow a beard since I already have a goatee and a mustache and hair seems to be growing on the sides of my face (I'm 19 years old.) But then I there's this myth (or probably fact) that some asians can't grow beards.

So, here's my question - are beards hereditary? I just want to know, because if it is, I'd like to ask my dad if he has a beard. He shaves, so I don't know, and I wouldn't know if he had a stubble anyway because I don't look at his face.

Yes they are.

It is entirely possible that you might have inherited some of your ancestor's European features such as thicker facial hair.

That said, it is also entirely possible that you might have inherited that from some of your native filipino ancestors, too. It's unusual, but not impossible, for pure filipinos to grow beards.

A man's average testosterone level is partially determined by genetics, and since testosterone stimulates follicular growth, then yes, body hair thickness can be considered hereditary. It's a myth that Asians can't grow beards. Might take somewhat longer, maybe.

beards are not hereditary i think what you are asking could better be answered by testostrone.
the higher the testostrone level in a male--the more hair grows on the body.
