a great site for this is www.prosper.com and it deals with people-to-people lending, so it cuts out the banks. Say you request $25k and make a convincing case, multiple people will make bids on your $25k. So you might have 17 "lenders" and eat put in $2,500, $500, $100, etc. towards your $25k. This is often times a better route to go over the bank because a bank will have to absorb all of the $25k if you do not pay it back. However, these people on propser.com are only losing a small amount, usually $1k-$2k max, so they are a lot more likely to invest with you that small amount considering the large upside for them. Give the site a look.

i never heard of a place but, to better your chances you should ask a close friend or family member to co-sign for you. it worked for me.
