In terms of the organizers and the home country, the risk associated with building facilities is enormous. There are always cost overruns and inevitably the costs estimated in the bid to secure the Olympics is woefully low.

Ticket sales also can be a worry - if you cannot sell seats, you lose money.

These days, security costs are huge. And continue throughout the Games.

More expensive now than in years past because we have the Islamic terrorists who look upon events such as this as a good way to kill unarmed innocent citizens of the world. The last thing they would ever want would be to see peace in the world and the Olympic movement is about peace and bringing nations together. The Islamics just want to kill people because thats what impreses their friends and rather than succeed at something in life they see life's value as killing others. Its their status symbol and we are all supposed to bend over backwards and say well its not all of them, and its just a minority, blah blah. The citizens of the world, not the governments, are threatened by terrorists and any event that brings people together is a target for hatred and that would mean the Islamic people.
