Before you answer the question, listen to their song "Michael".

Quote:
"So sexy, so sexy, so come and dance with me, Michael".

If I'm reading it wrong, what else could it mean?

I do not know but they are skinny and neat, like Seinfeld said, if your skinny neat and in your 30s then your gay.

Reading the replies here... Okay, I'll give you my opinion after this speech: There's nothing wrong with asking this question. Society is too P.C. these days and they feel they have to say,"Does it matter? I don't think it does! You have a problem with it? Why did you ask that question?" It's like they get offended for you even asking whether someone is gay or not!

Anyway, I think it's natural for people want to know what the band they listen to is like "behind the scenes." If the band is gay or not, why shouldn't the fan want to know? If "don't ask don't tell" is repealed from the military, why shouldn't it be repealed elsewhere in society? So, ask away!

Now for my opinion about Franz Ferdinand being a gay band or not. I'm convinced at least one the members has to be gay! If not, then they use gay metaphors and sarcasm.

No.

Of the 4 band members, 2 are married and 2 have girlfriends.
There is another version of "Michael" which was first recorded as a duet with a female sharing vocals.

From their website/Wikipedia:
The song "Michael" was the first in a trend among newer bands to write songs with lyrics reflecting a more fluid sexuality. "Michael" is a frenzied dance/rock song based on a private joke among the band about a friend of theirs who got drunk and was dancing unabashedly at a club.

I know this is kinda, really, really late but I was just wondering the same and an interview came up.

"PT: Some kid wrote us a MySpace message asking us if one or more of the band were homosexual-- he wanted closure on that. Alex replied, "No, two of the band are happily married, and even if we were, what difference would it make? A lot of musicians are homosexual, such as…" What were the examples you gave?"
