Then why did he treat her like annoying puppy with a schoolgirl crush and nothing better to do but follow him around everywhere in the first film? The 2nd picks up immediately where the first left off so there's no time for a gap unless it happened offscreen while everything else was going on?

It was more of a one night stand type thing with Erika than a love affair, he used her for sex and information and that was probably all. He wanted Selene and no else.
