Bangalore to Kodaikanal is around 500 KMs by road. Best is to go by Tuticorin express, get down either at Kodai road or Dindigul which is 80 KMs from Kodaikanal and then take a taxi or a bus from there to Kodaikanal. You can check http://www.kodaikanal.com for places to visit

You can catch the Bangalore Kanyakumari express which leaves at about 9 pm .Get down at Poddannur[near Coimbatore]and catch the train for Kodaikanal from here.Or you can travel by coach/bus from Poddannur/Coimbatore.For hotel accommodation and related information contact Tamil nadu tourist information center. or google website for tourist information india.

From Bangalore
1. take Tuticorin express, get down at kodai road Railway station, which is the bottom of the kodai hills.
From there, take local buses (easily available, ask the local guys about timings)/private buses and climb up the kodai hills for 4 hrs to kodaikanal hill station.

2. Take direct bus from bangalore to kodai from KSRTC or some other tour operator.

Place to stay :
we stayed in golden hill resort which is very close to bus stand.
Otherwise also, many hotels are present in that area. better take hotel near to railway stand, so that you can easily roam around for tour bookings.

Things to see :
it has got many places, you can not roam on your own.
Best is to book tours from local operators (i remember 'Raja tour operators' just next to golden resort, he is supposed to a good one) dont forget to bargain from these operators.
First day take the trekking trip and see water falls, dolphin nose, and other places, and roam around in the hills.
Second day take the forest trip. this is very pleasant one. takes you inside the uninhabited forests and serene places.
Next day you can roam around the places near bus stand like coakers walk, park, lake, st. Mary's church (beautiful )
Have a nice time !!
