I've had 5 children & I think you can see their personality almost from birth....having said that the attitudes & beliefs that they go to have are more to do with their upbringing....so go very very careful about what influences your child while it's growing into an adult....I'm talking about deep seated stuff here, like the things you accept in your life perhaps putting up with crap relationships will go on to have an affect in the way your child views things....religion & politics change all the time...that's more to do with education....it's the more subtle influences that have an affect on us as we grow...good or bad...
The personality from birth is like a sense of humour & than kind of thing....

my little girl came out with a loud wail (i had to have a c-section, so i was not allowed to eat for about 3 hours prior to going to theatre, so i guess she was starving!!), and that made me know she will be a fiesty one!. She is 12 months old now, and fast turning out to be more fiesty by the day. Everyone reckons she takes after me in that regard. But generally,i think babies go through different stages and different personalities while growing up, before they eventually become thier own person..

My 2 yr old daughter has changed alot, but she still has that same little attitude she did when she was a newborn. She'd look around at everyone like she had us all figured out. And she still does! But there is just no telling what they'll be like when they are older. I never expected her to be the way she is now, as hard as I tried I never could predict who'd she'd be today. And that's one of the many joys of having a kid! They are one amazing little surprise after the next.

Not really. But some factors may determine what they would be like in future. However, a great deal comes from the upbringing itself. Its the experience and the past that defines personality.

I haven't had my baby yet, but if you think about it as your baby grows inside he or she moves more or differently at times, he or she will suck thumbs or not each babies personality changes as we grow we change, everything will help us to be who we become so I would think before and after birth we see our childrens personailty. Hope this made sense , sorry if it didnt help.

when i gave birth to my daughter i was on stadol and demerol and had an epidural which would normally make the baby drousy, yeah right!, my daughter came out screaming so loud they could hear her down the hall. she's been just as loud and "look at me" ever since. she's 4 now.

That might be a self-fullfilling prophesy. If you think you see a certain personality you will act accordingly. That might cause the kid to grow into that personality.

TOTALLY! She had this "Little Princess" attitude. You know-like she was the sh*t! And do you know that TO THIS DAY, (and she's 5 now), that girl STILL has not dropped that attitude? She is something ELSE, honey!=)

No you wont... my daughter was the sweetest little thing and then she turned one and she was my shadow whatever mood i was in she was in, what i liked she liked. but now she is her own little diva and i am so scared of her... she has me cracking up all the time. its like watching a little woman. personality in children takes time to develop.
