elected officials from different political parties seem to be held to different standards.

1) Do you think this is true?
2) Why do we continue to support this?

Senator Kerry convicted of taking a bribe??? Maybe in Fox News land but in real life? Please provide some details on this ?

Let just take an example from the presidency.

We spent 60 million dollars and dug through Clintons underwear drawers. Justified? Possibly. What we got for our money was a dirty dress, a presidential lie, and an impeachment.

Bush has been caught in lies many times and people just don't seem to care. I shouldn't have to cite examples except to the most right wing nuts here but ..

President Bush: “Had I known that the enemy was going to use airplanes to strike America, to attack us. I would have used very resource, every asset, every power of this government to protect the American people.” (03.25.04)

It has been established that he did in fact know this was not only possible it was plausible and pending (or should have known)

That is why we are a democracy. We have the choice between platforms and candidates who we think best reflects our own positions. We are a country of different cultures, religions, ideals, and ideas. A "double standard" in politics can also be seen as a means of checks and balances, that one party does not hold extreme power, and that democracy is a great principle of government. Americans may not get things right at times, but we also can say we don't get all things wrong either. I would defend our right to agree to disagree with someone or some system. There is no better system in the world. That is much better than not having choices at all.

Yes, like when Senator Kerry was convicted of a $50,000 bribe, he was only chastised, but when the republican Governor of Connecticut did the same thing, but in house renovations instead of money, he was sent to prison.

The double-standard problem does exist, but politics is not excluded from human nature so it should be no surprise really.

Americans in general do not support it. Instead, I suspect they either see no way to fix it, don't care or don't understand politics enough to begin to pay attention.

JUst living human kind with lost sense of direction and purpose of life in ruling and leading in guiding the survival and advancement of living human kind in planet of apes.
Were doing things at their own whims and fancy getting themselves all kick on the butts by our creator in planet of apes.
At self loss for not answering a piece of question with those "Three little words" on "Who are you" left behind by our creator for each and every living human kind to come up with an answer vital for their own survival and advancement of themselves in planet of apes.

elaborate please >>>> THANK YOU, SIR!

I can only speak for myself though, and my opinions, stating about all politicians. No matter whom, all are crooked, some are more evil then others. You made your case, but, what can we do, it is in congress hands. Hopefully, they [democratics] will accept the win, as a wake up call to all politicians.

Why do you like to make sweeping generalizations about an entire nation?
