RUSSIA IS NOT A STOOGE TO THE USA LIKE THE UK. WHAT IS WRONG IN SUPPLYING ARMS TO IRAN? RUSSIA NEVER SAID IN THE UN THAT IT WOULD NOT SELL CONVENTIONAL ARMS TO IRAN. IN THE UNIPOLAR WORLD, THE US IMPERIALIST HAVE BECOME WORLD COP AND DICTATING TERMS TO OTHER COUNTRIES. ONLY THE UK AND PAKISTAN AND INDIA ARE DANCING TO THEIR TUNES.MY OPINION IS IT IS BETTER TO FORM AN UNION OF INDIA, PAKISTAN, RUSSIA AND CHINA TO THWART THE HEGEMONY OF THE US .

Russia has huge multibillion dollar contract deals with Iran in many areas--not only in military weapons contracts, but also for infrastructure, and nuclear power to name a few. That is why Russia "supported" only a watered-down boycott resolution against Iran, contrary to what the US wanted, because of their nuclear program. It's a wonder that any Islamic nation would want to deal with Russia because of their fights against Chechnia. But then again the Russians will always play the Devil's Advocate role versus the US. Nothing much has changed since the Cold War.

This is one of the reasons why I fear that if the USA just withdrew now that it would be bad. I am sure Putin would just love a vacated place of unrest to run on over to and move in.
