The sun-kissed beach and lush greenery of Ganapatipule inevitably draws tourists back, year after year. Many consider it as a spiritual place and the added attraction is a 400-year old temple which houses the "Swayambhu Ganapati ".

Sea beach
Harihareshwar
Harihareshwar is one of the finest places in Konkan. It is just 230 Kms. from Pune. It is famous for a temple on the seashore as well as the beach and the natural beauties here. Harihareshwar is only 25 Kms for Shri Vardhan. If one wants to enjoy travelling by sea, the launches are also available between the two towns. The temple here is one of the major attractions. Harihareshwar is known as Kashi of Southern India . The hill on the seashore at Harihareshwar is also known as 'Harihar' or 'Pushpadri'.

Diveagar Beach
Diveagar Beach can easily rival any beach on the west coast of India for its clear waters, white sand & serenity. Diveagar is situated approximately 200 km from Mumbai & 150 km from Pune. Reaching Diveagar is quite easy, take a right turn from Mangaon on the Mumbai-Goa highway, from here it’s a one-hour drive to Diveagar.

Diveagar is just like any other village on the Konkan coast but it gained overnight fame upon the discovery of Ganesh idol made of pure gold in one of the Supari Baghs (Garden) in the village.

Konkan is the area between Dahanu on the western railway side to Maharashtra-Goa border. There are several beaches- extremely beautiful - few crowded and few deserted but still really worth spending your days and nights there. I will list few which are worth visiting here:
1. Kelve beach: on western railway side. Nearest railhead is Kelve Road. Try not travelling by road.
2. Arnala beach: on western railway. Nearest railhead is Virar. You can travel by road, too. Few good quality resorts and hotels are serving excellent food and accomodation. "Cbeach Resort" is a best option.
3. Sasawane beach: between Alibaug and Mandwa Jetty. You can take a boat ride till mandwa and then an auto to reach. Good options (food and stay).
4. Murud beach: can be reached by road from Mumbai. Nice beach but fairly crowded on weekends. Many options for food and accomodation. Try "Trimurti" opp beach for excellent food. Contact Subodh for arrangement 92264 36591. He is active partner in the hotel.
5. Harihareshwar beach: quiet a long road journey from Mumbai. MTDC has a beautiful property there. Practically every house provides bed and breakfast service there. Most offer excellent food, too.
6. Ganapatipule: Near Ratnagiri. Can be reached by Rail+road travel or solely by road. MTDC has got a resort there. Bhandarpule, nearby is also good option but accomodation is costly.
7. Guhagar: take a road from Chiplun. Beautiful beach but accomodation may prove a bit of a trouble.
8. Malvan: almost at the end of the Maharashtra state. Stay and food excellent. Visit the sea-fort of Malvan. Worth a try.
Almost on all these beaches you will find excellent sea-food. If you are a vegetarian person, you may have to make do with basic veg-food. Veg food in Diveagar is best ( near Harihareshwar).

If you need more info please let people know in this forum. If to the point info is required, I may provide such an information. I had been to almost all the beaches in Konkan in the last 15 years- several times to certain beaches.

Happy journey.
