Well if you are really using a valid copy of windows then this should work for you. I used on my computer and a friends and it worked just fine. But this is only a temporary measure. Microsoft is going to get nastier and nastier about validating your copy of windows. My computer tech that installed my windows has to tweak mine so it shows up as validated. Good luck. Oh by the way, the automatic updates will work just fine with an unvalidated copy of Windows, but you can not update manually. Check around PC World for other articles they have covered this problem in depth before.

Well, if you haven't already installed the patch for it, don't and make sure to select the option that says not to ask again for patches that were not installed.

With that said, if you don't install it, you won't be able to get alot of the updated software and other patches. If you have a genuine copy, why wouldn't you want to?

Once the genuine software validation tool has been installed, I don't think you can remove it short of reinstalling XP.

You simply can't!!! If you are using Genuine Win XP your only solution would be to contact Mama Microsoft!
