Red eared sliders or terrapins need to be at 75F and have an ultraviolet lighting system to keep them healthy. Their body is incapable of keeping themselves warm, so we have to provide some form of heating usually an aquarium heater. The ultra violet is so that they can absorb calcium for the shell and bones.
The pet store you bought them from should have explained this.
Have a look at my website for my store.

I have had several red ears come in and out of my home for 16 years now. Temperature can affect their appetite, but a few times I experienced turtles that did not like the stick food. If you have adequate lighting and the turtle lives indoors etc. then try feeding the turtle something different. Dried shrimp is sold @ the pet store in the fish food section. Mealworms are also a big hit w/ my turtles. Just make sure to buy the appropriate size for you turtles mouth. They will also eat lunch meat and bread. I don't suggest feeding them this as daily supplement though. Also remember not to overfeed!!!

Try live fish. I own 2 red ear sliders and a vet told me that when they are young they tend to eat fish and when they get older they tend to just want veggies (or pellets). They maybe hybernating. If you get worried call the store you got them from to see if its normal.

Sliders wont eat if they are cold. Do you have a water heater? It should be set above 75 degrees.

The most common problem is too cold temps. They should have water temps of 75-80F to keep their metabolism up and running.
Of course, they also need big tanks, good filtration, UVB lighting, and so on that no one ever tells you either.
Try either http://www.redearslider.com or http://www.austinsturtlepage.com for help.
