I"ve been ask to write a paper being a charactor witness.Is there a format? Help!?

Thispaper will perhaps be used in court for a trial. I know there are certian ways of doing or presenting things like this in court.And I dont want to look and sound like a retard.I want that it should be proper so that it helps him. You understand. Can anyone advise me? Please?!?

I would think you'd just write down what you'd say if someone asked you what kind of person this is, how reputable or dependable, can he be trusted, etc.
