No dear, weight gain does not cause you to miss a period. You may be confused by the fact that huge amounts of weight LOSS can cause a woman to stop having her periods. While I suppose that if a woman were to become morbidly obese it might interfer with her fertility I am quite certain that the small amount of weight that you mention would not cause a ripple in your menstrual cycle.
It worries me that you ask tho. Do you have some other reason to be concerned? Have you had unprotected sex? You did post this question in the pregnancy section here.
If you have some reason to suspect that you could be pregnant you will want to do a test. It is best to wait until your period is at least 5 days late. If possible purchase a test that contains two testing units in it. That way if the first test is negative but you still do not start your period you can try again. For best results use your first morning urine in the test.
Or, if you have access to a doctor, call and ask her to order a blood test. That would be the most accurate test you can have.
Good luck dear and I am sure that all will work out for you.
Blessings

A lot of things can cause a person to miss their period - but weight gain is typically not one of them.

No, it would be something else. Even stress can do it.
