1. On election night the news media mistakenly declared a winner TWICE based upon exit polls.

2. The infamous "hanging chads" (that little bit of paper-punches that just wouldn't let go.

3. Bush was declared victor in a state his brother is coincidentally Governor. Bush was certified as the winner in Florida by a margin of 537 votes, thereby defeating Gore, who received more votes than Bush nationwide. Without Florida's electoral votes, Gore would have been our President

Gary:
Three problems as seen by a Canadian. Three of the Bush family involved and in charge of the election in Florida. None of my buisiness as an outsider but Gore should have won????

Large numbers of ballot irregularities in minority (predominantly black) polling places.

Disregard of large numbers of ballots from those precincts.

Intervention by a Bush supporter to stop ballot recount... statistically Bush lost the election... Republican loyalist intervention ensured his election.

Global opinion was somewhat mixed - but generally discredited the election... unwilling to interfere however.

The Bush administration had managed to alienate the majority of American allies within the first one hundred days.
