You need to find a roommate/s. But even then there's not much under $500. For $400 you can have the living room in the second URL I post.

I had been to California x 6 months. Didnt you know that San Francisco has the highest tax, at 8.5% added when you buy something.
I had stayed in San Francisco x 1 month and another month in Concord which is a part of the Contra Costa County in the Bay area. I had accompanied a friend look for a studio type room. The majority are $1,000+++ a month, likewise the case is the same in San Francisco. You wont survive with that income. Daly City is lower but I doubt it you will find one too.
I had been to LA, you can get a room there for $250 but you have to find a house who lets 4-5 persons live in the house.
I had been to San Diego, a room there will cost $1,000++ or depends on the place. El Centro is the cheapest with a house rental costing $900.00

Believe me u don't want to live here unless you make at least 3000.00 a month or more. You can rent a room in the Tenderloin district for about that much but your neighbors will be druggies, refugees and prostitutes. I am moving out the state because I can no longer afford it and I want to have my own space not live with a roomate my whole life.

Hate to sound harsh, but...on the street, in an SRO that doubles as a crack house at night, or camped out in the park.
Even if you're sharing a decent apartment with somebody, rent alone would take up almost all of your income.

I'm sure you can find a nice box-that's where most of our population lives.
Actually have you looked on craigslist? check it out-my bf pays 455 for a room and I pay 650-I live in a nice house with nice roomies (the evil bit** is moving out) in a very nice neighborhood but be careful, one of my roomies "the evil bit**" stole from me-so lock your stuff up. That info is just for rent though, you won't be able to actually survive-food, clothing, transportation, etc on that amount.

Do you have a car? Forget that, parking sucks in the city. Got a sleeping bag? Camp out in a doorway. That's about it.

Go ask about 'care not cash' places, maybe they can help you find a place.
