Once you upgrade to Vista you can use a USB flash drive as RAM. It's called ReadyBoost and the Flash drive has to support it. Works like this: You plug the flash drive in, if Vista does not ask you if you want to use the drive as RAM using ReadyBoost then that flash drive does not support it. Pretty simple.

I had read that Microsoft was trying to incorporate software into Vista that would allow the computer to use USB flash drives as additional RAM. I do not know if it is included in any or all of the final released versions, but I think it is.

no there is no way you can increase the internal ram of your PC by using flash drive. flash drive is just like an extra storage device you have to have internal ram for any desktop or laptop.

i hear in vista that you can do that but I'm not sure about other OS's but you can uses it as virtual memory by telling your computer to use it as virtual memory... so go to start, then go to my computer and right click on it, then go to properties, then go to advanced, then under performance go to settings then go to advanced again, then down the bottom click change and add your USB as a virtual drive and tell the computer how much MB you want to use

no, cuz you would have to change the computer bios to handle more RAM than it was designed for. The computer recognizes the flash as a disk drive.

you can use it as cache like your HDD, but as internal ram? no, USB 2.0 is still very slow compare to DDR or DDR2 ram, so is not any useful at all

No, it's not possible to use it that way. But you will probably be able to upgrade your computer's memory...check your motherboard's manufacturer to get its specs and see what speed and capacity it supports.
