I do not require you to like me as an individual or approve of what I do in bed. I don't understand why you think that your religion allows you to criticize anyone. It was Ghandi who said 'I like your Christ. I don't like your christians --they are so unlike your Christ'. I can't believe that if Christ were alive today that he would be so hateful...so why are you? Please this is a serious question. I don't understand why you are so different from what christ has taught you.

Gandhi was or is a very intelligent man. Please ignore the bible verses. What these Christians seem to forget is that Jesus DID NOT write the Bible, men did. I truly believe those words that Gandhi said. There is no way that God (who created us all) or Jesus would be so hateful. But please remember the people who argue with you are the kind of people that go to Church on Sunday then lie, cheat, steal & sleep around until the next Sunday. One more thing Christians think pre marital sex is a sin but yet in America they won't give you the right to marry so a bunch of them are hypocytes

Well, I grew up in a Catholic household; I was an altar boy in church (and for those of you wondering, NO I wasn't molested, and that is not the reason I am gay!). I went to a Catholic college, even. I thought that I understood the Catholic doctrine pretty well, and I still feel like I understand what they say. But common sense tells me that a lot of that stuff just doesn't make sense. And that is why I have been questioning what I have been taught by numerous people. I agree with you and Ghandi -- I think that SOME fundamentalist Christians are the most bigoted and obstinant people that I know. I hate to say it, but I equate them at times with the fundamentalist Muslims; the ones who think terrorism is the right thing to do. Both of these groups do what they think God is telling them to do; and both are so stubborn and arrogant to think they are correct, and that any ends justifies their means. The only difference between them is that they have different beliefs as to what is right.

To be honest, I'm getting kind of tired of all the crap that posts on this site. Yahoo wouldn't ALLOW the fundamentalist Muslims to promote terror here, why SHOULD they allow the fundamentalists to promote their hate as well.

I'm going to end with what I heard Margaret Cho say on Logo last weekend. She said that she feels the Christians are the most unChristlike people she has met. She said that Satanists go up to them and say "That was soooooo mean!" In addition she said "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be off preparing for the rapture? Aren't you folks leaving soon?"

They point to the bible as saying it is an abomination.I do not know what it says on the subject. But it is just an excuse for there own prejudise.God made us all,gay and straight, and i am sure does not want this hate to exist.Straight people think being gay is a choice, not an urge.Like you say, they are not living a life like Christ taught and lived.he lived what was considered the lowest class of people of his own choice, with love in his heart for all.Not many follow his example,at least in the christian community

the Bible is a collection of books from all over the world, written decades and even centuries apart, by human beings (not God Himself). it has been translated and re-translated countless times and lots of stuff is probably not faithful to the original manuscript. it was also in many parts purposely altered by the catholic church as a tool for them to control the masses back when they were the central world government several hundred years ago. people thought gays were "gross" or an embarrasment to maleness or were uncomfortable to think a gay was fantasizing about them (straight men can't handle being thought of as sexual objects, even though they objectify women all the time). Plus population really was an issue in europe during many times and being homosexual was "not doing your part for the continuation of the specices". and so a small handful of minor references were mixed into the Bible. christians are also just people and make the same stupid mistake all people do: they pick and choose the parts of their theology to adhere to and often focus on nitpicky details while losing the bigger picture.

as for those who "use" religion to justify their bigotry, and claim to be Christian and yet pass judgment on others and preach intolerance...yes, I'd have to agree with Ghandi. As I always say, I grew up learning God created and loves us all.
the Bible was written by man, not God. it's been translated and re-translated so many times...and people quote it out of context to suit their beliefs. do they not realize that such behavior is itself the real sin? that they condemn themselves to hell? My family, my friends...all Christians. and yet, none of them behave in such a vile, hateful manner.
God loves me just fine the way he created me, thank you! these people need to pray for their own souls and keep their noses out of other people's business....they are the ones who are the "abominations."

Sadly, as referred to in your question, there is a "religious element" that hates gay people. However, there are religious elements that hate all kinds of people. In my study of the Bible, Christ never said that we ought to hate any people. On the contrary, He said (loosely paraphrased) that anyone can love someone that loves you. The hard thing is to love those that do not love you. Further, He calls people to action in loving their enemies. I am not saying that gays are enemies. People claiming Christianity should not hate anyone, but love all (by love I mean act lovingly toward). I am sorry that you have encountered hatred b/c of your sexual orientation. Further, there are many churches that lovingly embrace LGBTG peoples. People are people and Christ wants us to love one another in truth and grace.

From my study and understanding, the cause of Christ is for people to love Him with all their heart, soul & mind and to love others as we love ourselves. In doing so, we become more like Him. What does that mean to you?

You'd expect Jesus's "Love thy (your) neighbour" to over ride all the hate in the Old T, but no, the Xtians still hate everyone who isn't them. Ghandi was on the nail.

Well since the bible was written by man we dont know if its what Jesus said at all.
Personally i dont believe in god, and not because i am a homosexual its becuase i need to see to believe. But obviously Jesus woulndt have said those things since he is so caring. It was probably man changing Jesus' words to suit himself.
He is probably up there in heaven right now asking himself where did he go wrong when he see's all those homophobes and racist.

I believe that no one is fixed. Homosexuals choose to be gay. They may not think so, but deep in their subconsience they made that decision. At first they might have just been confused, but everybody tells that person that it's ok to be gay, so they just go with it. It is a sin to be gay, as it says in the bible. But we are all sinners, so I don't hate someone because they are gay, we all have our downfalls in life. Anyone can be saved, we just need to repent for our sins.

Christ taught this:

Mat 5:17 ¶ Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed [the righteousness] of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

So ,Jesus said that the law which condemns homosexuality is still in effect. That's why the apostle Paul also condemns the practice in the New Testament.

"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

So when you claim that this isn't what Jesus taught, you're just flat wrong.
