make sure its in properly... take apart your computer again and see if the clips are down in and locked.. if not then there's your problem.... if it's in there and still not working it may be faulty so take it back to where you got it from..

Assuming the memory you bought is compatible with your motherboard, you might find that the banks in which you install your memory affect whether it works or not. Your motherboard manual should explain memory installation, but from my experience, I can tell you that only the same size sticks of RAM can be installed in the same bank. Like, if you have 4 slots, some boards only let you install two 512 sticks in slots 1 and 3, or slots 2 and 4, but not slots 1 and 2. Play around with the combinations if you don't have your motherboard manual. If your memory sticks are separate sizes, they need to be installed in separate banks. In this scenario, 1 and 2 would work, but not 1 and 3, etc.

Chances are that you got the wrong RAM card or you put it in the wrong slot or what you got is not compatible with your mother board. Use you PC manuals to check the mother board specs.
Another thing you may try is to put the new memory card in the slot where the old one was and see what happens.
Good luck.

If you have an OLD machine, you may be at your limit.
Otherwise, maybe you didn't seat the memory correctly?
Or, maybe your BIOS needs to be changed?
Or maybe the memory is bad (but you'd probably not even boot if that were the case)
If none of the above help, try taking the old one out and leaving the new one it and see if it boots. If so, you know the memory is good. If not, well...

um.. i could help you better if you IM me but...
RAM is like a USB flashdrive.. Plug in Play...
put in the RAM, restart the computer, and there u go...
it will find the RAM.
If it's not going to recognize it for you, is it the right type of memory? and is the memory good, where did you buy it? and the biggest question, did you ground yourself while messing with the memory, since you might have fried it when touching it.

Maybe your motherboard is not compatible with your new RAM. This happened to me a couple of months ago. You can take your old one to the store and ask for help that's what I did.
