You guys don't know New York very well or 25th Hour. Monte's dad DOES take him west! At end of the movie you do see the George Washington Bridge behind them and a body of water. Water is NOT the Hudson River, it's Oliverpeck Creek near I-95/I-80 split. Monte's dad is a cheap Irish bastard and would opt to pay cheaper tolls going west on I-80 thru Pennsylvania. Monte doesn't want to get *** raped in jail over his big fat Russian friend back stabbing him. Nickoli the gangster released Monte. Monte destroyed his friendships with his friends in NYC, fight in the park scene, tells girlfriend to live her life, to make it easier to run! His dad does a great job selling the idea to Monte. Free as a bird!!!

He used to live next door to my cousin in Columbia Maryland.
He was a nerdy looking kid but he has grown up cute. I would have flirted with the little dweeb if I had known.
