Here's an excerpt:
Avoid laying a refrigerator on its side. The oil in the compressor can flow into the cooling lines when the refrigerator is tipped onto its side. When returned to an upright position, there is a risk that the oil will not completely drain from the cooling lines and the refrigerator will not cool.

when i moved last year the movers told me there rule of thumb is at least 24 hours but if they have it down for more than a day they need as much time as it was laying down for it to stand upright again. example 3 days laying down then 3 days upright before plugging it in,.we all ways use this method and have never had a problem! but if u are moving it for a few hours like that let it sit for 24 hours b4 turning it on just to be on the safe side

most of the fridge parts like compressor, coil, sensor n motor r fixed vertically,if u lie it down u may damage these parts,so it's advicable to stand it upright while shifting.

Don't lie the fridge down in the first place.
Most movers are aware of that, and they move it all the way, upright.

24 hours to be on the safe side. You have to let the coolant settle back at the bottom so that gas bubbles do not enter the liquid pump.
