ok i'm not a complete ditz when it comes to my daughter. but i'm curious about her temperature. i used an ear thermometer on her, the only kind i have. works fine, new battery.

well i took her temperature 3 times, 5 minutes apart. and it ranged from 96.2-96.6. now normally when we take her to the doctor for a check up it's around 98.5-9. she's not acting too strange though i did notice she seems more crabby than usual. she was still kinda playing (more roling up in her blanket) and is still eating a little, but less than her normal.

she is 10 months old. i gave her a little motrin, didn't know what else to do. she's in a one piece footed fleece jammie outfit. after about an hour her temp had only reached 96.8. i haven't taken it since because she's in bed sleeping. is her temp any reason to cause alarm? and be serious here. i didn't call her dr. because it was 7pm. didn't take her to the ER because husband said she should be fine. but i'm still worried.

Ear temps are least accurate. Try to get a rectal temp.

Also, 96.8 is nothing to cause concern. It's still in the range for normal. (96.0-99.5)

If you are still concerned, call her doctor. The time doesn't matter, there will be someone on call.

Infant Temperature Too Low

I think the temperature range is fine, as long as she is not showing any other signs of discomfort. Keep an eye on the temperature to make sure that there is no drastic drop/rise in temperature.

But above all, if you still FEEL unsure, then call your doc, or visit the local pharmacy so they can use another kind of thermometer to get a more accurate reading. Mother's instinct is seldom wrong!!!

Hope she is ok though!

I have three daughters. Sometimes a baby will have a drop in temp and be fussy a couple of days before a cold. Keep a check on it , make sure it doesn't drop any lower than you mentioned. If it does, call her dr. She should be okay though.

Try a different thermometer - My doc said those should not be use until age of two. Their ear is to small to get the right reading.
Its true i bought one later on inside it says not recommend for infants.
