How does society push aside the elderly?

Question

Ok, I need to write a report....and no I'm not asking for people to do my hw 4 me :D lol
As people get older...society tends to push them aside since they cant perform the way they used to when they were young.
I just need some ideas....any material you guys have read, any psychological findings, websites...anything that would give me an idea on how to survive this report.

I know they are pushed aside, but I just went blank in my thinking. I know that when it comes to certain medical issues, such as getting a heart & liver transplants they don't get them...why put a good heart in some who is going to die in the next 5-10 years. Have you heard of someone in their 60's plus getting a heart transplant? The Elderly don't get the best treatment due to their age, they only get enough to get them by.
