They want to go out first cos they don`t want to be stuck with the others on the escalator.
Haven`t you noticed how quietly they walk out when it is not the rush hour?

They are trying to get out of the way for people behind them. And rushing to work, school, etc. On most trains, during rush hour this has to happen for everything to run smoothly. Also, the doors shut after a while, so you have to rush to get off before they miss the stop.

Maybe it is for the same reason people rush to get out of planes...even though the door still hasn't opened.
They really don't want to be "couped up" with strangers any longer then they have too.

fPeople are always in a rush anymore. Whether it's stepping off a train or driving through traffic.

bc the doors close quickly and people have to get in and out and they are usually on the way somewhere (work, movies, meeting people) that has a time deadline. also, maybe there are people behind them to get out.

So they don't get trampled by the people behind them trying to get out before the doors close.
