hi yesterday i asked if i should wear pads or tampons and alot of people said tampons so i'm wondering if you can get free tampon samples and how i should ask my mom to try them. she didn't let my sister start wearing them until she was 14. so do you have any advice please help.

go to the store yourself to buy one. or, if you're open with your other girl-friends... ask if you can borrow one of theirs. or.. steal one of your sisters. or better yet, go steal one of your moms. lol. it's a natural thing, she should want to buy you tampons anyway. there's nothing "sexy" about it. it shouldn't be something you have to grow into.

Only wear tampons if you feel you are ready to use them. Pads are safer although you have to change them more often. I believe you should use tampons at LEAST a year after you first start your period.

Try Organic tampons - they are completely free of chemicals and are made completely naturally. Go to a health store or health farm who will put you on to them.

Actually, I recommend pads. Tampons have several health risks, while pads are fine as long as you just change them regularly. Tampons are known to get lost inside you, cause pain and discomfort, and cause TSS (toxic shock syndrome). Also, most women tend to forget about the tampons, and accidentally leave them inside over night or for too many hours. At that point, you risk bacterial problems.
I suggest ALways pads. They come in different sizes (including petite for teens) and they have wings.
BTW, tampax.com has samples for tampons, although I don't recommend tampons.

You just have to tell your mom that you have been doing research and you know all about them. Tell her that you think they will be better for you because you are having problems with pads and you are uncomfortable
