My daughter is 7 weeks old and she has her first cold. She has been congested the past few days and she just gets so misrable sometimes. She was especially bad tonight. Her doctor had to reschedule her 6 week appointment until Feb. 5 so she hasn't seen her since she was 2 weeks old. Mainly, Natalie (my daughter) has just a stuffy nose and congestion. Since this is her first cold, should I call the doc or should I wait till next Monday since she doesn't have a fever or anything? I really don't know what to do. I have been using the humidifier, saline drops, the nasal aspirator, and giving lots of hugs and kisses. I just hate the thought of having to drag her out into all of this snow tomarrow morning when I go to work. It is only 7 degrees right now!

Is she having any trouble breathing? Breathing rapidly? Wheezing or grunting? Can you see skin sucking in between her ribs when she breathes? Not eating and therefore not making wet diapers because it is hard to breathe when trying to eat? If yes, go directly to the ER. If not and still no fever, I would keep doing what you are doing and call the doctor first thing in the am as they should have openings for an ill child. RSV is a possibility and is very dangerous but usually is accompanied by a fever and then difficulty breathing as it progresses. Keep a close eye on her - it sounds like you are doing all the right things! Good job Mommy!

I have 2 kids a 5 year old and a 2 year old. First of all if he is throwing up you should be giving him less in his bottle. Try 2 or 3 oz instead of 5 or 6. As long as he is taking some liquid he shouldn't get dehydrated. Just keep an eye on how how many wet diapers he has. if he is eliminating something then he shouldn't get dehydrated. Some signs to look for are if he doesn't wet a diaper in 4 to 6 hours, has sunken in eyes or dark circles around the eyes, or when lightly pinching the skin on the back of the hand if it returns to normal or stays wrinkled. Contact your doctors office and ask then what you need to do. they may want you to bring him in for a check. Good luck and I hope your little boy gets better!!

I'm sorry but i would change that doctor .knowing that a 7 week old baby is sick and wont see her until Feb 5.i think you better make some calls and see if another doctor can see her sooner.
you say you have to take her out in the cold what day care takes a sick baby? if you don't have a day care and someone you know is taking care of her tell them to go to your house .or get a family member. or take the day off.

My daughter caught rsv when she was 6 months old.We could have lost her if we didnt take her to the hospital.7 weeks old is very young.I would take her to the emergency room or get an appointment before it gets too bad.My baby spent 3 days in the hospital from what we thought was just a cold.

oh, the poor baby... Extra hugs and kisses are the best. It sounds like you are doing everything you can. I would just call the doc tomorrow and ask if they can move it up earlier. Most Pediatricians have open appointments and can scoot you closer.
Best of luck. One other thing to try it to not have any fans around her and also to keep her sitting up straight for the drainage of mucus.

even if u go to the dr the baby is too little for you to give her anything so its really pointless to take her. get some saline drops for her nose and suction it out regurarly, other than that theres nothing u can do

I think you have done everything you can. She will probably be fine, as long as there is no fever, she isn't lethargic, etc.... if it doesn't start to clear up soon, see if you can get in to see the doc sooner....or take her to the ER.....that probably won't be necessary, though,....

BURR! I use 'Little Noses' by Little Remedies however I used it on my baby when she was about 3 months. If you call your dr. they should be able to tell you over the phone

Relax, you are doing everything that you can do for her. I would wait until her appointment, unless she starts to get worse, then I would go to the ER.
