You don't need a codec, you need a DVD decoder. There are plenty of third party ones like PowerDVD or WinDVD, but they cost money and there is no need to pay for one. Windows Media Player 11 now comes with a built in DVD decoder, so all you need to do is upgrade WMP. Windows Media Player sucks. You have to download ten million codecs to view a few files. Try the amazingly versatilve open-source player VLC:

Give it a try. It's not as pretty as WMP, but boy does it work.

Depends on how the video was encoded. For DVDs, I think they all use the same codec, which comes packaged with your DVD software. If you still can't view the video, I don't know what to tell you. I'd reinstall my DVD player software if I were you.

FIrst, intall any trial version of this dvd player soft. Then you can play dvd on Windows Media player.

it might be easier to download the mac quick time player for windows. it works just fine on win xp 32 x86, or go to microsoft downloads to download windows media player 11
