Honestly...I just came back from Maui..and I got a little plastic square with a red circle and a line through it..you know like "NO" and 'junk mail' written under it....I glued it on my post box and they never leave junk mail for me anymore.

All of the above answers are excellent suggestions. One more thing you might try (it is time-consuming) is to take all those pre-paid envelopes from the packages of junk-mail and mail it back to the senders in their own pre-paid envelopes.
