No they can't protect us 100%. That's impossible. We as Americans, our local and state governments have some responsibility for our safety too. I believe the only reason we haven't been attacked yet is because the terrorists are busy blowing up Iraq. Should the libs get their way and our troops pull out of Iraq better start watching for another attack. Same goes for the '08 election. If we get some idiot in there who thinks we can "start a dialog with the terrorists", we're in serious trouble.

No I don't think homeland security can protect us 100%. I'm not sure what form the terrorists will attack, but I do think we are very vulnerable still. Bush hasn't secure our ports, he hasn't secured our borders, and he hasn't even secured New Orleans yet for crying out loud. The interesting thing about your post is that England intelligence is getting alot of chatter going on about Al Queda attacking London with a nuclear weapon. You don't think Bush has made terrorism worse? Right, and the pope ain't Catholic either, just try to convince the American people of that.

No. There is no way your homeland security can protect you 100%. It will do a damn good job of trying, but truly, who can ever protect someone 100%. You guys have the best military and security force in the world. If anyone is going to survive another terrorists attack, it will be the US. Sadly, you will need it, as I believe it wont be long before terrorists launch another attack on you guys. Australia wont be far off....we're in bed with you guys. :)

I think we'd do better the second time, but I think there's less of a chance of another set of attacks than is commonly supposed. For one thing, it was tried once and didn't quite have the desired effect. I don't know what that desired effect was, but it doesn't seem that al Qaeda is much happier than they were in 2000, and the rest of radical Islam isn't experiencing much encouragement either.

One other point: as was shown in the 'shoe bomber' incident, anyone who considers hijacking an airliner nowadays is going about martyrdom in an inefficient manner. Air passengers these days will kill first and discuss the matter later.

the situation is much better than before 9/11, but there is no such thing a perfect protection.
active aggression against terrorist bases, with strict protection, provide a better defense system, but one must always remember that attack is a crucial part of defense.

Nobody can protect you 100%, even if you wanted to live in a police state like the former USSR.

oh wow! you are dreaming if you think that is true. i believe its not a question of if, but when. if terrorists hated us before 9-11 they hate us even more now. you can kill one and two more will be born. violence will continue to breed more violence and as long as humans reign, there will always be groups of terrorists.

I thoroughly agree. even as Israel gave Gaza lower back to the Palestinians, it became meant to deliver peace. quite, the Palestinians in the recent day more desirable rocket hearth into Israel and killing of Israeli civilians. "thanks for the land Israelis, and now we are going to reply through killing you on your generosity" the only thanks to end those terrorists from continually launching attacks at Israel is to illustrate them that there are outcomes to hurting people. You harm us, we go with to take care of ourselves.
