In the time while I was fixing my computer (and had to backup and reinstall iTunes and my iTunes library) I recorded some voice memos on my iPod. If iTunes overwrites everything I will lose the lectures that I have recorded.

How can I reacquaint the iTunes library with my iPod? Can I tell iTunes to look for my iPod's name or something (assuming each iPod has a unique ID)?

The voice recordings fall under 'Voice Memos' playlist.

Can you help me sync up the voice memos I have on my iPod now so I don't lose them?

Many thanks-

Hmmm . . . there's no real way to do that which I am aware of. Unless you use some non-iTunes software to do it. The reason you can't back up from your Ipod is because Apple wants to discourage piracy. That means no straightforward copying of mp3's off of an Ipod. I hope you can find a way to get your stuff. Next time, don't put your only copy of anything on an Ipod.

Oh yeah . . . for now, you should be able to set your Ipod to NOT sync with your computer . . . that's the only way I can think of to put stuff on your Ipod without making it overwrite your stuff on the Ipod. Just click "Cancel" if any boxes come up to ask you to do stupid stuff. If I recall correctly, the Ipod will only be erased if you make it sync with your computer.

This article looks like it might have what you want: http://www.engadget.com/2004/11/02/how-to-get-music-off-your-ipod/

And if you're looking for an older version of iTunes, look here: http://oldversion.com/program.php?n=itunes

Good night!
