Yes, this is the only way. Go to your search engine, and type in what type of game you are looking for. Is it a role playing game or adventure? Just type the actual type and then type game trials.
This way you can try them before you buy them. My favorite place to go for games is www.realarcade.com but there are many more, like www.bigfishgames.com and www.games.yahoo.com.
If this is not what you are looking for and you cannot place your finger on the type of game Gabriel Knight is then type in your search engine Gabriel Knight + review + game. You may have to search a few different pages but you will get your answer quickly.
