I was hoping that I could get some information from some men that already had the procedure done...anyway I had a bilateral vasectomy done 4 days ago, and I'm still in somewhat of pain currently, it does not really bother me much execpt when I am standing or moving, I realize this is probably normal but I'm somewhat curious as to how long I'm going to be weakened. My doc said about 7-10 days but I'd like to hear from some people that actually had the procedure done. The pain I'm still feeling is the feeling of when the surgon clamped my vas deferens tubes (honestly the worst pain I've ever had in my life, I'm somewhat resistant to the local anesthetic)...anyway the pain I feel now is enough to make me have to sit down for a while and I'm not even moving very much, an example would be just to grab a bag of chips or pour a glass of milk or something. I'm somewhat young if it helps, I'm currently 23. Any help would be appreciated.

I almost forgot, this is an actual question. If you would like a violation, please don't answer the question and instead put something stupid, all stupid/ignorant/and epically hate filled comments will be reported.

My problem is that I used up all my sick days (I had 4 left) for this operation, I cant really do the ice trick at work. Tylenol doesn't seem to help.

By the 4th day, I was in the "uncomfortable" stage.

Remember to take it easy. If you have a desk job, you should be OK.

The almighty bag of frozen peas of corn can help relieve the discomfort as well.

By the end of the first 7 days, I was fine.

1. If the Tylenol is not giving you adequate relief then call the doctor. There's no reason you should be in pain.

2. Yes, it does take about 7 -10 days to heal from a vasectomy.

3. You might try wearing briefs or a jock to give your scrotum a little extra support.

4. Try to balance your standing & walking time with your sitting time.

5. Absolutely no lifting for now. None!

It took me about 3 days for the moderate pain to subside and about another week for it to go away completely. I had it done on a Friday AM adn was back in the office on Monday. Tylenol didn't help me at all. Tight brief underwear or a jock strap might help a bit. The thing about having to sit down and put your feet up its exactly what happened to me.

Just curious - why on earth did you get vasectomized at age 23?

My husband was miserable for two weeks. However; he was bruised from the lower abdomen to below his hips and his scrotum was the size of a soft ball. He was the 1% to have a atypical reaction. Call your physician and tell him that you are uncomfortable and see if he can suggest an OTC combo that can help or prescribe some vicodin, that helped my husband. ICE!!

You should be wearing snug underwear or a jock strap to keep "things" from moving around. My husbands Dr had him do this for a week at least after his vasectomy. He said it helped alot. Good luck.

Your doctor did not lie to you. Pain will decrease over 7-10 days.
Call your doctor if the pain increases as it could be sign of infection.

Call your doctor and ask if there is any thing he can give you for the pain. I would be careful about returing to work so soon so I would ask him/her about that as well.
