Its always about a tidal wave heading towards me, one of the dreams I saw the wave ran then stoped and screamed please stop, then woke up. Is there any reason for these type of dreams?

A lot of people are complaining of dreams like this. When you're talking about a tidal wave (metaphorically) you're talking about feeling overwhelmed.

However, it could be literal too. The disturbing images from the tsunami in Asia as well as Hurricane Katrina are still fresh in our minds because that's where trauma takes up residence (to keep us safe).

It could mean that these images still haunt you or it could be an indication that you are feeling overwhelmed in a number of different areas of your life.

However, the fact that you screamed "please stop" and then woke, could also indicate that you realize you are in control and you have the ability to stop the dreams. Often, once you understand the dream and address the root cause, they go away.

To dream that you are caught in a tidal wave, signifies the overwhelming strength of your emotions, perhaps accompanied by tears that you are holding back in your waking life. To see muddy, violent waves in your dream, signifies that a major error was made in an important decision.

Dreaming about natural disasters is not that uncommon. People usually have these dreams at a time of many changes in their lives. Most people have ambivalent feelings about change and some resist even positive changes. Therefore, quick shifts in life style or some type of crisis may bring about dreams of natural disasters
