I am an 18 year old college student. My periods used to be very regular (every 28 days). These would last about 4 days and not be very heavy. About 3 months ago, I began getting my period every 3 weeks. They are lasting longer thanbefore and are heavyier with minor cramping. I dont want to go to the doctor if there is no problem and there is just a normal change in my cycle. So I just want to get some ideas of what could possibly be wrong. thanks :)

If your periods were regular, and then you started school and your stress level increased, it is "normal" for your periods to change with stress levels. It should correct themselves with stress decreases. However, it might be good to see a doctor, most campuses have a free clinic you can attend. And get it checked out to rule out pregnancy, bleeding disorders, etc. The MD might want to start you on birth control pills to regulate frequency as you are in a target population for STD's and Pregnancy.
