How can I tell what I can upgrade my video card to. I'm running a radeon 7200 i think, pentium 4 processor, a gig of ram, but i dont know anything else really. I know it's not much help, but it may save me some money. I was thinking of getting a barebone kit, essentially upgrading my whole computer, but all I really need right now for my *needs* is a new video card. (and i get really overwhelmed trying to figure out which barebone kit would be best! LOL) thanks for anyone who can point me in the right direction!

AGP 2.0 Compliant BUS - AGP 2X (3.3V), AGP 4X (1.5V), or AGP2X/4X based systems

is what I found on a web site for my video card (http://ati.amd.com/products/radeon7200/ ) does that mean that i can get any AGP type video card for my mother board? or do i need more info as well?

Your card is AGP 4X max, so chances are you mobo will not support 8X cards.

So look for an AGP 4x card or a AGP 4x/8x card to upgrade to.

This is the only one I found: Sapphire Radeon X1600 PRO 512MB GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X VGA/DVI/TVout

Ok do this..First we want to find out what kind of SLOT you have in your computer. There are 3 kinds

1. agp
2. pci
3. pci-express

You need to find that out first. Once you know what kind of slot you have in your computer the rest is easy. Find a card that matches the slot. Don't mistake pci cards with pci-express as they are not the same.

You are ok on the memory so you have enough and also you have a p4 so you are ok there too. All you have to find out is what kind of slot you have on your computer? agp pci or pciexpress? Once you know that your home free :_
