My dryer started to make this noise that hurts my ears. The entire time my dryer is running, it makes this very high pitched squeeky squeely sound and it is driving me nuts! Any ideas what is causing this?

you don't tell us what kind of dryer it is, so i'll tell you about a kit made for whirlpool, kenmore kitchen aid, and roper dryers, just in case that is what you have. the DRYER MAINTENANCE KIT is made to fix a squeally or thumpy dryer problem. it contains 2) drum rollers and clips, 1) idler pulley assembly., and 1) belt. any one of these could make noise in the dryer, so by replacing them all, no more noise. the kit costs about $30.00, and you can get them at an appliance parts store, a sears parts center, or on line. the kit comes with great instructions with pictures so it is easy to follow the steps and should only take about an hour to complete. i did mine over new years and it runs like new. you might need a helper when it comes time to put the front back on the dryer though, i needed my girlfriend to hold the drum when i did it. just take down the model number from the tag in the door opening area then call them and ask for it. good luck, hope this helps.

There are two main things that cause a clothes dryer to squeak like you're describing, the belt or the rollers which the belt is driven by.

I would bet it's not the belt since it's squeaking the entire time (definitely don't use WD40 like one person suggested, this would only cause the belt to slip).

You'll need to purchase the rollers for the pulley system by looking up the type of dryer and getting them from a store that sells them. We just replaced the ones in our dryer, it was doing the exact same thing. We looked online for the parts for our particular dryer, purchased them, and they arrived about 4 days later. My husband isn't very mechanically inclined, but he was able to follow the manual on how to take the dryer front off so that he could get to the rollers and replace them. It worked right away.

have it serviced

usually its a suspension problem as mine was serviced the first time for that....it didn't fix it after inspection
so they put in a new transmission and that stopped it

the drier is only a month old so its under contract still which is nice

there are a lot of things it could be and the best person to have parts inn stalled and find the problem is a certified service tech.

That's your belt slipping on the drum. Either an adjustment is in order or the belt is worn and needs replacing. You may get by for awhile but put in smaller loads.

Sound like the drum bushing or the roller bearings need to be replaced. Call a tech.

the drum rides on a couple wheels. the bearings in those wheels are shot. you can probably get a repair kit for this. you will have to take it apart and put in the new wheels. if you have any mechanical skills at all this will not be too difficult

It could be a worn belt, just like you can get on a car. Check the belt to see if it is worn or frayed. If so it needs replaced.

In my ever so non-professional opinion i would say either the bearings are gone or you need a new belt.
