besides the colors?

Firstly, there are lots of differences because one is a type of horse (Mustang) and the other is a gender (stallion).

A Mustang is an American wild horse, and derives from a mix of many breeds of horse which have turned wild over the centuries, although they do typically come in many pretty pinto colours (a pinto has black/white, brown/white, or grey/white patches etc).

A stallion is an uncastrated (meaning not desexed) male horse over the age of 4 years. An uncastrated male horse under the age of 4 is known as a colt, and a castrated male horse of any age is called a gelding. A male horse which has been castrated but has still retained one testicle is called a rig, and although it may appear to be a gelding (testicle not visible), can usually still breed.

On the other hand, a female horse over the age of 4 is called a mare, and a female horse under the age of 4 is called a filly. These terms apply to both desexed and non-desexed female horses, as it is very uncommon practice to desex female horses anyway.

Hope this has helped!

A stallion is a uncastrated male horse of 3 years or older. A mare is a female horse 3 years or older. And a gelding is a castrated male horse 3 years or older. A mustang however is a breed of horse that is technically a mix breed. This is because they are decedents of horses from Spanish explorers that were set loose or escaped when the explorers were in America. A stallion can be a mustang or any other breed of horse

A mustang is a wild horse. A stallion is an intact male capable of breeding as apposed to a gelding, which has been neutered. A mustang herd is led by a stallion. Color is a matter of breed of horse, not whether it is a male or female (mare). Mustangs come in many different colors as they can be a mixture of several breeds

a mustang is a WILD horse not a breed (common misconception). a stallion is a male horse that is fully capable of reproducing. A mustang stallion is a wild male horse than can produce offspring. a horse can be a stallion and not be a mustang but a mustang is rarely never a stallion being as a wild horse would generally not be nuetered....
