Because I am a teller, we REALLY appreciate it when the customer returns the money. Yes, we are humans and make mistakes but that is why we ask the customer to verify the money. And depending on how much, it can cost a teller their job...so PLEASE do the right thing sweetie :)

I am a bit hypersensitive to this subject because I often pay for purchases with 2 dollar bills and half dollar coins. I do this as a statement to society that we should pay closer attention to what passes before our eyes. Most often, especially with younger people, I have to correct the change that is returned to me. It's just one of those OCD things that I do. But, I am trying to educate the population one store clerk or waiter at a time. One thing it does do, is make me a memorable person. The next time they see me they often remember me as the guy with the "funny money."

I would definitely give it back. It's the only right thing to do. There is alot of honest people, but those I'm surprised to see so many dishonest ones as well.

I would give it back. It is not my money anyway.
You dont want to cost trouble to the cashier/teller...What do you think if you are the cashier or teller?

I would return it to them. Their tills are audited. When they screw up most companies make them pay up the difference or it certainly does not look good for them. I am sure enough times of this and they lose their jobs.

Give it back.

Give it back! That person could lose their job over a mistake you had the power to correct. Plus, if they realize it after they give it to you and you've left they could just take it from your account.

depends how i feel about the clerk. if he/she is rude, i would take it cause he/she needs to be replaced by a more compentant person. if the clerk is nice and does the job with a smile, i would give it back.

I'd give it back just like you did. It always feels better than living with guilt. :) You did good.
