This requires a bit of guesswork. Suppose 20 tracks per CD and that each track has been ripped to Mp3 or wma of 4Mb each. 20 x 4 = 80Mb.
80Mb x 200 cd's = 16,000 Mb or 16Gb

Or if you use your 1Gb ipod memory limitation, 1Gb divided by 80Mb = 12.5 cd's

Depends on the size of the mp3 you record them into. A standard bitrate is 128 kb/sec, which for a four-minute song puts you at about 3MB. This would mean that if each CD has say, 15 tracks, a CD takes up 45MB. Your 1GB iPod would have about 1024MB available, but approximately 86MB would be used for system files. This would leave enough space for almost 21 CDs. To fit all 200 CDs, you would need approximatly 100GBs, assuming all my other calculations are correct.

Currently, the largest size iPod is 80GB, and retails for around $400.

It depends on the quality of the music you put on. You definitely have too much music to put on your Ipod with average quality though. I think you should encode your CDs in MP3 format before you buy your Ipod if you're really intent on having all of your music right there with you. Otherwise, just get anything from 1 to 8 GB (preferably more) and swap the songs as you get tired of them. You're talking about hundreds of hours of music here . . . I think the odds of you listening to that much between visits to your computer are very slim. Good night!

Depends on the sample rate they were converted at.
