Only if you are going to take it to school/college or work with you, or if you are going to travel around a bit. Otherwise a desktop is better because the parts are cheaper for them and they are easier to upgrade.

A good laptop can do anything a desktop will do, but in much less space and at twice the cost. Just figure you'll never be able to upgrade the CPU or the video.

It is depend on your personal requiremant. Now laptop become more and more cheaper, anyhow laptop was a portable PC and easy to move.
On the other side, desktop surely more cheaper if compare with laptop base on their performance.
You will get greater performance spec. compare with laptop in same price.
However if you planing to upgrade your system later, than you probably have to go for desktop, coz laptop does't have enough space for upgrade (only available for DIMM, CPU, HDD, DVD drive).

It is depending on you...
Laptop is very suitable for business men who are traveling, moving or working in different places. And also from my opinion who are not changing there mind a lot!!!
If you are from the kind who likes to play PC games and always upgrading your PC for that, or to use heavy softwares, so it is more practical to you to you desktop..

It really depends if you are on the go and bring it with you at work or school. If not, then choose a desktop.

Depends if your going to be bringing it around with you.
Personally, I'd go for the laptop.
